These dazzling Cockerell marbled papers were made in England but sold by the Victoria Paper Company based in Hollis Hills, NY. These papers are a small part of a larger collection acquired by the Thomas J. Watson Library which includes hundreds of the Victoria Paper Company’s sample sheets of handmade papers: these range from Japanese-style handmade papers to their own handmade colorfully-printed wallpaper and all cotton papers made in Mexico. #marbledpaper #wallpaper #handmadepaper #specialcollections #metlibrary #butterflywings #marbledmonday #Cockerell #cockerellmarbledpapers #decorativepaper
I came across these papers while browsing the Met Library's Instagram and they're so cool that I have to share them! I especially like all the colors and patterns on these sheets. It's quite incredible how 3 simple ingredients: water, ink, and paper can create such beautiful designs naturally.
The first few remind me of peacock feathers. What do they remind you of?
