ItsDmn talks about his passion for streetwear, photography, and his biggest challenges as an influencer

With Berlin coming up as one of streetwear's most important cities, we sit down with one of it's biggest rising stars, Damon of @itsdmn. Known for having some of the rarest and most sought-out pieces as well as his simple yet striking photography, Damon has quickly nurtured a large organic following. Crazy thing is, he's still in school!

What does a typical day of your week look like?

I’m still going to school so my typical day looks really boring. After school, I have to do homework or study for a test. After that, I can do whatever I want haha.

What inspires you to keep going?

So my passion for streetwear as well as my passion for photography and editing inspires me to create content. But then, of course, the massive feedback of the community is a huge inspiration to keep going. Within my first 10 uploads, I started realizing there are people out there getting inspired by my content. People were texting me like “Yo, you got a sick feed! Keep it up!”. I think these are the things that give me the inspiration to not give up and keep doing my thing.

Another thing is working with brands. It’s so cool to work with brands like yours (Nomad NY), creating new content, and being an influencer. I am really grateful for that, and of course for all my followers and my community in general.

What has been the biggest challenge for you so far?

The biggest challenge so far was to figure out how I want my feed to look like. At first, I uploaded every picture I took, even if it didn’t matter that it didn’t fit with all my other pictures. But then, I started to edit my pictures, making them really clean and similar. I did a black and white background, making color pop and helping the most important elements stand out. I also started using filters for my pictures.

Then I realized that it would be better if I could upload more pictures with the same outfit, so I decided to upload sets of 3 pictures with the same outfit. With this ‘strategy’, I have a really organized feed and I have the opportunity to upload 3 pictures with the same fit, creating more content for my followers.

What advice do you have for others who hope to become influencers?

Just do whatever you want to do...but keep in mind that you should try to improve the quality of your content from one upload to another. Furthermore, you should upload 3 times a week minimum.

What are some timeless pieces that will always work?

That’s a good question! Probably the Vans old skool (black and white colorway). They’re so easy to match with any type of outfit. They also have a really clean and simple design in general.
