I found this while browsing the Morgan Library's Instagram page and was reminded of how amazing and rare all books once were. Like seriously, look at the insane amount of detail! Books in the past were rare, expensive objects that were also works of art (literary and literally) possessed by the few and powerful.
What do "The Sports Bible" and "The Costume History" have in common?
For starters, they're both about clothes (the 'sport' in sports bible refers to 'sportswear' in fashion). But on a more essential note, they're both books about functional clothing and style from around the world.
I came across these papers while browsing the Met Library's Instagram and had to share them. I especially like all the colors and patterns on these sheets. It's quite incredible how 3 simple ingredients: water, ink, and paper can create such beautiful designs naturally.
